Did an inspection of the bolt. Great coating, MPI tested, etc. But… when I pulled off the extractor, the extractor pin had to be hammered out. Figured out that it was a bad/ wrong size spring, and the extractor had been forced on. Replaced with the correct size spring and all was good. Four stars since all good quality parts except for one spring and rubber ring. Just goes to show you always inspect anything that makes things go boom!

I purchased this bolt assembly and a few other items that went with it during the midst of the covid craziness. There was nothing available for ar15 type weapons at the time and I was overjoyed to find a few parts in stock. There was some confusion in my order because some items were out by the time I went to purchase them and I canceled a couple of items due to the fact that I needed all the items to complete my bcg and I was only going to receive half of what I ordered.Well, I was amazed to receive the items that I ordered as well as the canceled items .I was elated and I will continue to spend some of my gun/fun money at Optics Planet.comThanks againH.L.

1) I trust Spikes Tactical. I trust the people there. Every purchase and interaction leaves me the same resounding image. Consummate Pros.I’m coming back to phosphate after testing NiB and Nitride coatings. I like advanced coatings with added lubricity. That said:There is merit to mixing parts with varied finishes. I found that slick coatings don’t hold lubricants well and phosphate finish parts do. Phosphate parts seem more true to specs and are normally more affordable unless you’re shopping Colt, FN, DD etc.. I like the heated release of lube from the inside of the BCG. (IMHO) It lightly lubes the moving parts and protects contact surfaces of the NiB or Nitride bolt assembly/carrier.This ST bolt went in like it belonged in the Lantac Carrier. I also have one in a chromed Young Mfg. carrier.Passed headspace gauges and fire test on: Hanson Performance .750 16” Spikes Tactical CHF M249 16” LW .750Noveske Afghan 14.5” Mid test coming soon. Has ST stamped next to MPI – HPT markings.
